It was very quiet during our stay and the main bar, restaurant and grill were all closed. The small area of the bar being used looked tired and is ready for some refurbishment but teh reception area and restaurant were fine.
I am surprised that local golf clubs have not been approached so that good accomodation and golf packages can be offered. The hotel does not appear to be promoted very well, but to be fair the Portumna area as a whole does not seem to be promted.

The room was comfortable and the leisure faciliries were clean.
We went for a meal in the bar on the 1st night of our break.I Ordered the 'lightly battered' fish. The batter was very very thick and undercooked and I asked the young waiter (he was very nice and polite) to bring a plate and take the fish back to the chef and tell that I could not accept this and I would just eat the fries. My husband continued to eat his meal which was accepable. He did this but didnot give any feedback. When we went to the bar to pay the bar manager very nastily said 'seven other people have had the fish and they didn't complain so why have you?' We were amazed.I Refused to pay for the fish. The rooms were not clean sufficiantly each day and the beverages were not replenished each day - I had to repeatedly go to reception to request same. There were no apologies although I compland to both the deputy and hotel managers.

We used the hotel as it was my partners birthday and she picked the area. We found the hotel warm and comfortable and my partner loved the spa and pool. Our stay was reasonably pleasent.
Although we enjpyed our stay, there is always good and bad. Breakfast the first morning, I was left without my bacon. Although I was told it was coming, I had my breakfast eaten before it arrived. I left the bacon.

A perfect location for families. We ate in the bar-menu limited. Staff were friendly in the hotel.
Room was somewhat dark and dull. Although it was clean it looked a little dated. Only a small thing but the rubbish bin in the bedroom was shabby and torn which did not help the overall impression. On the food front-we stayed for bed and breakfast and opted to eat in the bar the night before. We found the bar menu limited and our food (we ordered steaks) was lukewarm on lukewarm plates when it did arrive. We could have sent it back but since there seemed to be only two staff on duty we felt we would have to wait too long for replacement. We ordered wine and the glasses were not the cleanest. The hotel could definitely do with improving on the food front.

no internet connection in the hotel, except a dial up in the bar, and there you cant really work. Very small and dark rooms, dont really know why anyone comes there.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, we stayed here for a family wedding and found everything to be lovely. The pool kept the kids entertained in the morning and the suite was lovely and roomy and decorated very well with everything you would ever need.
The chairs in the dining room all had collapsing legs, they were not very safe to use. We left the bedroom windows open and when we returned the room was full of bluebottle flies, nothing to do with the room, it is just the area where the room was situated right on the edge of the woods, attracted a few creepy crawlies. Also felt the 10 am check out was a bit mean as we would expect to be let have a 12pm check out like everyone else. And the gas and electric bill came to 7 euro for 2 nights, which I feel should be included in the room rate.

I enjoyed swimming in the pool. The changing rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. There were designated times for children to swim.
The pool didn't open until 9.0 am on Saturday..
